The word is Katherine “Election Thief” Harris may just win Florida’s GOP Senate nomination. YES! Put that whack job up against Nelson. Please! Someone should write a book entitled “What’s the Matter with Florida?”
EXCERPT:

Bush Team Casts Foes as Defeatist

We’re not defeatists; we are realists.

Bush Team Casts Foes as Defeatist

EXCERPT:

President Bush and his surrogates are launching a new campaign intended to rebuild support for the war in Iraq by accusing the opposition of aiming to appease terrorists and cut off funding for troops on the battlefield, charges that many Democrats say distort their stated positions.

Clinton Ended Welfare, Not Poverty

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

Excerpt:

Clinton masterfully blurred the two in a recent New York Times opinion column, as did most others on the 10th anniversary of the passage of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act, writing as if getting mothers and their children off the welfare rolls is the same as getting them out of poverty. In the absence of any evidence that poverty is tamed, he celebrates a “bipartisan” victory, which was good for his image but not necessarily for those it claimed to help.

They are STILL Counting the Dead in New Orleans?

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

I am speechless.

Excerpt:

A year after Hurricane Katrina claimed the lives of 1,464 people in southeast Louisiana, state officials have released the names of about half of the victims and say that without continued federal support, it could be months before they publish a comprehensive account of those who died in the epic storm.

Rumsfeld Accuses Opponents of Fascism

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

morons.org - Rumsfeld Accuses Opponents of “Fascism”

EXCERPT:
Defense Secretary Rumsfeld recently barked that critics of Bush’s war on Iraq are trying to appease “a new type of fascism”. This takes a lot of gall, considering that a clear majority of Americans oppose the Iraq war and a majority disapprove of the Bush administration’s illegal, warrantless domestic spying.
At risk of running afoul of Godwin’s law, I can’t help but notice that Rumsfeld is employing a standard propaganda technique favored by Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s propaganda minister: always accuse your opponents of doing that which you are doing yourself. Ask yourself who expresses the more fascist attitudes- those who control every branch of the federal government with lockstep ideology and launch unprovoked attacks against countries which had not attacked us and who illegally monitor domestic telephone calls without warrants in violation of the Constitution, or those who demand that their liberty not be tread upon, that we don’t start wars of choice, and that the government abide by our laws?

President Bush talks to Brian Williams

President Bush talks to Brian Williams - Nightly News with Brian Williams - MSNBC.com

EXCERPT:
BUSH: Well those are two different questions, did we fight the wrong war, and absolutely — I have no doubt — the war came to our shores, remember that. We had a foreign policy that basically said, let’s hope calm works. And we were attacked.

WILLIAMS: But those weren’t Iraqis.

BUSH : They weren’t, no, I agree, they weren’t Iraqis, nor did I ever say Iraq ordered that attack, but they’re a part of, Iraq is part of the struggle against the terrorists. Now in terms of image, of course I worry about American image. We are great at TV, and yet we are getting crushed on the PR front. I personally do not believe that Saddam Hussein picked up the phone and said, “al-Qaida, attack America.”

WILLIAMS: The folks who say you should have asked for some sort of sacrifice from all of us after 9/11, do they have a case looking back on it?

BUSH: Americans are sacrificing. I mean, we are. You know, we pay a lot of taxes. America sacrificed when they, you know, when the economy went into the tank. Americans sacrificed when, you know, air travel was disrupted. American taxpayers have paid a lot to help this nation recover. I think Americans have sacrificed.

CNN sorry for Bush speech gaffe

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

CNN sorry for Bush speech gaffe | Entertainment | Industry | Reuters.com

EXCERPT:
CNN apologized Tuesday after an open mike transmitted an anchor’s bathroom conversation with another woman live over the network as it was carrying President Bush’s speech in New Orleans.

“Live From” anchor Kyra Phillips had apparently left the set around 12:48 p.m. EDT Tuesday for a bathroom break while the news channel carried Bush’s speech marking the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Phillips’ wireless microphone was turned on and picked up about a minute and a half of a muffled conversation she had with an unidentified woman where she apparently talked about her husband, laughed and talked about her brother.

“I’ve got to be protective of him,” she said without being aware that the mike was on. “He’s married, three kids, and his wife is just a control freak.” CNN anchor Daryn Kagan broke into the telecast immediately afterward updating viewers on what Bush had been saying.

“CNN experienced audio difficulties during the president’s speech today in New Orleans,” the CNN statement read. “We apologize to our viewers and the president for the disruption.”

Repubs Turning Against War?

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006
EXCERPT:
By Election Day, how many Republican candidates will have come out against the Iraq war or distanced themselves from the administration’s policies?

August 2006 will be remembered as a watershed in the politics of Iraq. It is the month in which a majority of Americans told pollsters that the struggle for Iraq was not connected to the larger war on terrorism. They thus renounced a proposition the administration has pushed relentlessly since it began making the case four years ago to invade Iraq.
